Nov 19,2018 Mission conference!

Nov 19,2018

Hey Mom, I am doing ok. We are doing what we can to find new investigators in the area. We had a mission conference and a Stake Conference this week which went very well. Elder Lynn G Robbins of the Area Seventy came to both and emphasized on how we can be more effective missionaries. We want to open our mouths to more people outside rather than knocking on doors. We've been inviting people to a Nativity Activity the church is holding which is a big thing apparently in Allen.

A lot of people are very close minded and say they already go to a church. We tell them again that we are inviting them to a special activity and then they show their interest in it. If only people would be just as open to learning about the Gospel. After Mission Conference we went to a Japanese Restaurant and had all you can eat Sushi. We had 16 rolls of sushi and I had about 30 pieces of Sushi in total. I also got a bike for a really good deal at a Bike shop. I'll send you a picture of it and the receipt. I got a Black Friday discount on it as well which was really helpful. It hasn't been too bad as far as weather goes. Sure it can be a little cold but nothing too serious. I would rather not have a Cardboard cutout or a picture of me at his wedding. I appreciate the offer but I will pass on that offer. We are looking for new people to teach in the area, so far we haven't found anyone new in the area. We want to work with members in the area to find a family interested in the church. I'm sure we will find one sometime this year. I don't really want anything for Christmas. If there was one thing it would be a 1830 replica of the Book of Mormon and maybe the Book Saints. I've been reading it a couple times but I'd like to read from a physical copy rather than a screen. I'm sure I will stay in Allen next Transfer but I'll let you know if I get transferred next week or not. Stake Conference was pretty good. They spoke to members a little bit about getting their friends interested in the church. That sounds like the only way we will get referrals in the area. We got one referral this week about a less active member but after talking to him he said he wasn't too interested in coming to church. He was going to talk to his family about attending the Nativity activity. Over the past couple of weeks we've been practicing in Stake Choir and we sang I need thee Every Hour and The Spirit of God Yesterday. Other than that I've been trying to finish the Old Testament before Christmas which is going to take a while. I don't read it during my personal Studies but I do have to read up to 20 or more pages a day. Anyways I hope you all have a great day and I'll talk to you again soon.

The Bike works pretty well. I may try to use some kind of tape to make it get less scratches when I ride it. I've used it a little bit at a skate park in our area. The jacket is very warm and helps me quite a bit. I try to wear it only when we are walking around the area. I'll pray about Pierce's engagement before I email him. The Saints book is pretty good. There are a couple things in there that have helped me understand about the Church's history a lot more. It seems like we are just planting seeds right now, but hopefully someone new will come in the future.

Elder McMullan's new bike!
