Stop knocking on my "bleeping" door!

 Monday Jan 28, 2019

Hey  I am doing ok. I still haven't gotten used to 2 hour church. It is weird and we have to go to different meetings in between them.

Nothing too amazing this week, most of our appointments cancelled on us which stinks. We met with a Less active member who would not come back to the church. I asked her why she didn't like the church anymore and she laid out all of her problems. She first complained about how the church has lied to her about the Translation of the Book of Mormon and didn't tell her about how Joseph Smith read out of a hat with the Urim and Thummim. Also complained about the the Negro not getting the Priesthood and how the church is being so critical and evil against the Gay Community. She also said that she prayed and read from the Book of Mormon 5 times and didn't receive a Testimony of its truth. Also she discovered these things about 6-7 years ago and she is 64 years old. I wanted to share the Wise words of Dr John Widtsoe, a former apostle in the church:

“The self-called liberal [in the Church] is usually one who has broken with the fundamental principles or guiding philosophy of the group to which he belongs. … He claims membership in an organization but does not believe in its basic concepts; and sets out to reform it by changing its foundations. …
“It is folly to speak of a liberal religion, if that religion claims that it rests upon unchanging truth.”
“It is well to beware of people who go about proclaiming that they are or their churches are liberal. The probabilities are that the structure of their faith is built on sand and will not withstand the storms of truth.”

I can't really stand people who blame others for things they didn't know. That information has been out for so long. She said she did let go of her garments because she doesn't believe in the church anymore. One day she will turn around and realize how stupid it is to blame the church for her lack of learning.

We also made a lot of people upset when we knocked their doors on Saturday. One lady told us to stop knocking on her Bleeping door. Yeah so we got a lot of slammed doors that day. Fortunately we had a pretty good appointment Yesterday. We are teaching a Family of 10 so that is awesome. Some other Elders were biking to an appointment and one got a flat tire. The appointment cancelled so they went to Walmart to get a new tire. A lady in her car asked if they were Jehovah Witnesses but they said they were not but that they did talk about the Bible. She was pretty excited and asked them to come over and they taught the Restoration. We got to meet with her Yesterday and at first I was a little worried about her asking about how Joseph Smith could see God face to face but we explained it pretty well. She also asked if we believed in the Laying on of Hands which we said yes we did. Another question she asked is if we sold stuff in the church buildings which we did not. Very interesting lesson indeed and we are excited to meet with them more often. We will have to bring a member who speaks Spanish so we can get the husband in the conversation.

The Weather has been pretty alright so far and I've been wearing a jacket sometimes. My Quads aren't getting any bigger right now but I will see if I can change that. Nothing really funny happened this week but I have been sorting out the music I have acquired on the mission onto my phone. I downloaded the Old Testament, New Testament, Book of Mormon and Doctrine and Covenants Seminary Soundtracks. I enjoy going back and watching some of the videos the church produced back in the 90's. I haven't had a ton of time to look over Come Follow Me because of the work we have to do but I will look over it. Pray for the Family we are teaching that they will be comfortable with the church and also that one of our Potential People will feel better. He just lost his Dad last Monday and his Mom is in Chemo. We need to get him off drugs someway or another. Anyways sounds like you are all doing well, hopefully Dad survives at work.
